I'm Going To CPAC This Year After All

Thanks to the generosity of my supporters, I will be able to attend this year's CPAC in Orlando, FL after all. 

I had cancelled any ideas of making the trip awhile back because I simply couldn't afford to both fly and get a hotel room for the required number of days. Was going to drive in my new 2017 Camry, but due to recent expenses I realized I wouldn't have enough for the hotel room even if I made the 20 hour drive. 

I had also been told that  not only would former President Donald Trump not be speaking at CPAC this year, the Schlapp's were actually looking to cut ties with him and go full blown GOP establishment. That sounded...funny to me, but this was what several people I trust were saying. 

So I cancelled a hotel room I had book in Orlando 2 months ago. 

But when I saw a post about Trump officially being confirmed as speaking at CPAC on the Quod Verum forum, I made a reply about how I'd hoped to go, but it just didn't work out financially for me right now. 

And about a dozen people replied and said we needed to make this happen, to get my butt to Orlando for this conference, and they were willing to toss a few bucks my way to help make it happen. 

That led me to explore how much it would cost to both fly and get a hotel room. I still wasn't sure it could happen...

...and then on the American Airlines site, I realized I still had a **travel credit** from last year, when I'd had to cancel a trip to DC.  A travel credit for $481. I had **completely forgotten** about it.  I looked into the cost of booking a round trip ticket to Orlando and it came out to $438. 

So with the plane ticket taken care of, the only hurdle was the hotel room. Because people had offered to donate to help with my expenses, I posted my Paypal and in less than 2 hours people had donated over $800.  

That's MORE than enough for the room. In fact, it's almost double.  

It also turns out that my good friend Saul Montes Bradley will also be at CPAC this year, and he's already reached out to me to let me know I won't need to rent a car or call Ubers to get around. :)

I'm kind of amazed at how fast this all came together.  This morning when I got up CPAC wasn't happening. 

Now it is.

I am so grateful for the people who made this happen. I would not have pursued it had they not responded to my QV post they way they did.
