Anybody Watching The Circus Knows Who The Clowns Are

It's expected the political show trial underway in the US Senate will be wrapping up today, but we'll see.

After the House impeachment lunatics spent all day Thursday screeching the same accusations over and over so we had to wait until Friday for the Trump legal team to begin it's defense, I'm expecting fireworks during the closing statements from both sides, then the inevitable grandstanding speeches by Senate members before the vote is taken. So this may very well drag on past today.

Despite a lot of media reports to the contrary, I think Trump's defense team has been doing an excellent job, given that they have limited themselves to addressing the actual claims made in the impeachment article, and have stayed away from presenting any evidence of a stolen election.

I don't think the Trump legal team used all of their allotted 8 hours, while the House managers went over their time on Thursday. Some have commented that they thought Trump shouldn't have bothered to even present any kind of defense at this show trial, but that would have been a mistake to allow the the Left to set the narrative of the trial uncontested.

Because that's what this trial is really all about. Democrats knew going in they were not going to get 17 GOP votes to convict the former President. This show trial is about setting the historical narrative, the final exclamation point, on the history of the Trump presidency.

The victors write the history, and since the Left considers themselves the winners in this fight, they are busy writing the official history of the Trump presidency, a history that will state that in a mad attempt to stay in office he unleashed a violent mob on the US Capitol Building while the joint session of the Congress was counting the electoral votes.

That's a false narrative, and it is important as Conservatives fight in this culture war that they appear on the field of battle to fight, rather than telling themselves there is no point to it and staying home.

As the Left is making increasingly clear, staying home is not an option. They really do not intend to leave us alone.

UPDATE: Just minutes after I finished this post, the US Senate voted 55-45 to call witnesses and subpoena documents for the trial.

This thing ain't over by a long shot, folks.

And if they're going to do this, that means Trump's legal team also gets to call witnesses and subpoena documents.

Stay tuned...
